Healthy Living Network Leeds is a Healthy Living Centre. We are a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity. We aim to build capacity and address health inequalities through sharing information and building relationships and trust within local communities. Our work embraces the principles and values of community development. We aim to enable and empower the people of Leeds to make small changes towards a healthier lifestyle, and encourage a sense of well being through a range of projects and services.
HLNL has a Co-ordinator, Community Health Programmes Manager, Neighbourhoods & Environment Co-ordinator, Food Access Co-ordinator, Support Worker and Driver, one Community Health Worker, Communuty Health Educators Co-ordinator, CHE assistants, Admin Staff, a Finance Worker & CHE’s.
HLNL has been extremely successful and is a key player both at local level and also citywide. We received a grant of £1million pound funded by the Big Lottery and the West Leeds Primary Care Trust for a 5year project. We have been commissioned by the Leeds PCT to develop the Community Health Educator Project, food work and further Healthy Living Activities.
This is an exciting and challenging time for HLNL, as we enter our next stage of development, a new business plan is in operation and although the Big Lottery Grant finished on 1st September 2007, the organisation’s finances are in a robust position with good reserves. Our turnover is roughly £250,000ks per year.
We are in the process of negotiation with the Primary Care Trust and Leeds City Council to look at future developments. The Board anticipates that Healthy Living Network Leeds future will depend on a mixture of grants, social enterprise, and commissioning from both NHS and LA.
HLNL has been commissioned to deliver the Food Access project for Leeds, funded by the Well Being fund, for three years. HLNL will also be delivering CHE’s training for both this and another city wide project Older & Active.
Citywide we are a key player and sit on the Health Forum managed by Leeds Voice and the Healthy Leeds Partnership. The 7 Leeds HLC meet to share information and develop joint pieces of work, this has included a joint evaluation. Staff members sit on a number of other strategic boards and groups throughout the city. |
