The story so far……..

It’s all go on the Men’s Health front!

• An event was held at Goals (a soccer centre off Kirkstall Road). 3 members of the HLN team carried out research there regarding Men’s Health and gave out information on gender specific health issues. The event proved very successful and just short of 100 men took part in the research……good times.

• The Men’s health research has also been carried out at Osmondthorpe Resource centre which is a centre for people with physical and sensory impairments.

• Beer mats have also been designed in partnership with a local graphic designer and the Leeds Brewery. 1250 have been printed and are currently being distributed around Pubs City wide.

• Men’s health pub quizzes have taken place in Bramley and Headingley. The aim of the quizzes were to encourage men to think about their health and what they can do to improve it.

• A men’s workplace health event was held at Premier Farnells (suppliers of electronic products and services) based in Leeds. This was to raise awareness of men's health issues in the workplace. Activities included fruit smoothies, fruit cups, BMI and central obesity measuring, research questionaires and information on gender specific issues. The event made contact with approximately 90 male members of staff.

• A men's health group session was held at Hawksworth Wood Children’s Centre with a dad's group. The session included fruit smoothie making, BMI and central obesity measuring, men's health quiz, research questionaires and information on gender specific issues.

• Other events are also in the process of been planned which will involve students and the gay community.
