Working with local people across the area to develop their skills and support them to achieve their goals and ambitions.

This may be;

  • a local group who are trying to run a community centre
  • a parents and toddlers group
  • a residents group organising a Community Activity Day
  • access to resources locally including where funding may be found
  • contacts and referrals to services and information
  • awareness raising of specific issues related to their geographical area
  • identifying training needs and developing skills

    We work around healthy themes which are very wide and varied and can include mental health, physical health and Environment (from green spaces, allotments, growing projects, to the space we live in housing, heating and estates).

  • Here are some examples of well established local groups who continue to work within their own community.

    Armley Community Fun Day – involves around 12 local residents who meet to raise funds, organise and plan this annual fun day for the community held on Armley Moor off Town Street in July. From January each year they meet at Armley One Stop on the last Thursday of the month at 1.00pm. All local people are welcome to attend and join in this very informal meeting to bring together previous activities and embrace new ideas to the promotion of health and well-being of the people of Armley.
